Halloween

We really enjoyed celebrating Halloween as a family. Saturday afternoon we carved some of the pumpkins we grew in our side yard. The kids had never carved pumpkins before so that was really fun. Kaley enjoyed playing on the floor with the pumpkins we didn’t have time to carve and trying to eat them.

Jacob got Mr. Pumpkin Head parts for Makayla’s birthday. His pirate pumpkin was a big hit at trunk-or-treat and with those that came by our house.

A few weeks ago, we raided my mom’s box of costumes. It was great to be able to use her cute costumes and sure beat buying or making costumes for the kids. Jacob chose to be batman and Makayla wanted to be a dinosaur. We dressed Kaley up as Little Red Hiding Hood and Jarl dressed up as a farmer. I found black sweats for Jacob and we taped, pinned, and tacked a grey flannel Batman symbol to his shirt. Makayla looked so cute stuffed as a dinosaur. She was so big with all that stuffing that she had to sit in a booster seat in the car rather than her car seat. We went to our ward’s trunk-or-treat and then Jarl took the kids out in the neighborhood.

Kaley fell asleep on the way home from trunk-or-treat. Jarl laid her on the floor in the front room and she slept through the doorbell ringing, the dogs’ excitement, and me vacuuming up the dirt from bringing the pumpkins in. Luckily for her, she woke up just as Jarl and the kids were leaving to go trick-or-treating so she got to go with them.
