Miserable March

March was an up and down month for the Jacobson family. We spent a lot of time sick. Mostly it was Kaley, Emma, and myself but Makayla missed a day of school and Jarl missed some work. He ended up having two crowns and a root canal so all in all an expensive, not-much-fun month. However, we enjoyed looking forward to our vacation to Oregon over Spring Break.

Highlights for the month of March included Jarl making green crepes from breakfast for St. Patrick’s Day which the kids thought was so cool. And the whole family sported green shirts for the day. We also had Jarl’s grandparents over for dinner and games one evening. And a nephew was blessed.

Jacob’s teacher said he’s one of the smartest kids in his class and gets things figured out. He’s still working on not calling out and lately he’s been pulling out his book and reading while his teacher is teaching because he loves to read so much. He’s struggling getting his stuff done at home so he’s been in trouble a bit more too.

Kaley is Kaley. Nothing much has changed. She loves watching movies, eating treats, and hanging out with whoever is home. She had her well-child checkup weighed in at 32 pounds. She's only 6 pounds behind Makayla and will be wearing 4T clothes soon. One afternoon I caught her measuring the height of her stuffed animals on her doorframe with a green pen. Later in the month she informed me she will potty train when the dogs stop pooping in the backyard.

Emma started sitting up in mid-March. She likes being up and seeing what's going on. She also prefers real food over baby food. I've been smooshing up part of a banana for her every day and she really likes that. She's also reaching and grabbing everything she can get her hands on.

Emma is also the favorite toy. Makayla and Kaley spend a lot of time talking to her, playing with her, dressing her up, and generally just being in her face.

My big news is that I ordered a Kindle. A friend of mine told us how much she loved having her mom's on vacation instead of packing a bunch of books and that she loved it enough that she bought one when she got home. This got me thinking about how nice it would be to have one for out two upcoming vacations. I've wanted one for a few years and now that you can borrow books through Overdrive and other people's Kindles I decided there was no reason not to get one. It’s fun to get new toys.
